Charles Vaughn is a multi-instrumentalist, music educator, and visual artist based in Arroyo Grande, California. His creative work is driven by the intersection of rhythm, melody, and visual storytelling—whether he is performing on stage, guiding the next generation of musicians, or capturing a subject's essence on canvas.
Music & Performance
With a deep-rooted passion for performance, Charles specializes in a wide array of instruments, including guitar (electric, acoustic, and 12-string), bass, drums, piano, vocals, and ukulele. His musical journey recently culminated in the release of his EP, Facade (March 2026), and the Blues single Muddie, and Bee Bee. He maintains an active performance schedule at venues across the Central Coast, such as the Avila Beach Golf Resort, Humdingers, and Branch Street Deli.
Beyond the stage, Charles is dedicated to music education, teaching students from Kindergarten through middle school. Having a couple dozen private students, as well as freelance work at local public schools. He focuses on fostering a versatile foundation in music theory and practical skill, helping his students discover their own unique voices.
Visual Arts
In the studio, Charles focuses on high-contrast acrylic and graphite portraits . Utilizing a meticulous grid method, he translates complex emotions and fine details into striking physical works. From iconic figures to personal commissions, his goal is to create art that demands attention and sparks conversation.
When he isn’t in the studio or teaching, Charles can usually be found at the coast fishing, working on DIY projects, or tending to his home garden.
